What we liked
- + Two red levels: the listing describes the weak red as suited to reading maps while eyes adapt to the dark
- + Zoom lens adjusts beam spread, and a half-press of the switch toggles between lighting modes
- + Pocket clip and lanyard included, with water resistance that the listing says copes with rainy conditions
Trade-offs
- - Includes a bright white mode, which can undo dark adaptation if selected by mistake at an observing site
- - Powered by three AAA batteries that are not included, and it has no power bank function
