What we liked
- + Air-spaced triplet with FCD100 ED glass is described as virtually eliminating chromatic aberration for high-contrast views.
- + Listing includes an integrated dew shield, a 2.5-inch hexagonal rack and pinion 10:1 two-speed focuser and a Vixen-style dovetail.
- + Compact 480mm focal length at f/6 suits astrophotography while staying easy to transport.
Trade-offs
- - Triplet design and 80mm aperture place it at a clearly higher price tier than the William Optics 71mm doublet it replaces.
- - A rack and pinion focuser is less refined than a Crayford style, and the listing does not mention a field flattener.
