Explore Scientific 82 degree 14mm waterproof eyepiece, a 1.25 inch wide-angle for immersive mid-power views.
Explore Scientific Extreme Wide Field 82 Series 6.7mm Waterproof Eyepiece 1.25 inch Barrel
Explore Scientific extreme wide field 82 series 6.7mm waterproof eyepiece with 1.25 inch barrel.
Wide-angle eyepieces open up apparent fields from about 65 to over 100 degrees, giving a spacewalk-like view that fits more of the sky in one glance. Beyond the field number, check edge sharpness, since cheaper wide designs can smear stars near the rim, especially in fast focal-ratio telescopes. Eye relief, weight, and barrel size also matter: many ultra-wides are heavy 2 inch units that may need rebalancing, and long eye relief helps if you wear glasses. These eyepieces suit deep-sky observers chasing large nebulae, open clusters, and the Milky Way, and anyone frustrated by the narrow tunnel of a basic eyepiece. A practical tip: match the eyepiece to your telescope's focal ratio. A premium wide-field design earns its price in a fast f/5 scope, while a slower f/8 or longer telescope gets clean edges from more affordable models.
